A Brief Biography
I am old enough to remember what punch cards were for, and to openly admit to owning a TRS-80 Model I. I used to say, "The most complicated piece of computing equipment I have at home is my microwave oven," but alas, no longer (the award now goes to my battery charging system). I am a firm believer in working to live instead of the other way around. As I've told anyone who asks, "What do you do?" My usual reply is that "I enjoy doing lots of things: sailing, cycling, cooking, good beer, fine cigars, T'Ai Chi, hiking, skiing and scuba diving. Oh, and I make computers "go" so I can pay for it all."
I was born in New Yawk City, lived on Lawn 'Giland, then moved to Connecticut, where my family still lives. I went to school in Philadelphia, and worked there for a time. I still miss the cheese steaks and the falafel stand at 19th & Market. I did a long stint in Reston, Virgina working for a now defunct start-up and a government contractor. I also spent a numer of years working in the Silicon Valley environs. In 1997, I purchased a boat, moved aboard, spent four years on a refit, then went cruising in Mexico for a few years. The rest is commentary.
