We had a pleasant, impromptu CyberCruise new years: Pincoya, Tasherana, Final Approach, [us] and Ba Lu rafted up in clipper cove for NYE. We had a couple of friends with us and it was most excellent. About 11 or so, we dinghied to the beach (with a champagne bottle or two in the backpack) and watched the fireworks show from the causeway. There were a lot of police there, but my guess is that they were there to watch the show, too. ;-) Wishful Thinking and Final Approach at anchor in Clipper Cove (2977)
On Saturday, we attempted the traditional alameda circumnavigation, but were stopped by low water at Aeolian YC. So we headed back to Chilis for dinner and killer margaritas instead. darn. Sunday was hi-lighted by sleeping late and then diving the boat. Sam gave Chris dive gear for xmas and the two were going to dive the cove looking for anchors. Sadly there was less than 6' of water, so it was mostly treading in mud. While Sam and Chris were in the water, I asked Sam to check my zinc. He said not to worry, because it was gone I husseled my own gear on and put a new zinc on (brrr, I had my knees in the mud!) Final Approach draws 10', so she was stuck pretty good in the mud (perhaps her first with Sam?). We hung around until 6pm while we waited for the bathtub to fill up some more. We figure Sam tried to leave between 7 and 9, but no telling if he was able to get off until the next morning (it was not a very high high tide). I've got a new job (sigh). The pay is good and it is fun...and I am working in the city (Union Square, next door to Macy's). The commute is just fine, and I get a nice refreshing walk at the beginning and end of my day. They are fully aware of our plans and have no objections (pretty desperate ;-) although they've promised to make it "difficult" for me to leave. We'll see, heh heh.
